What Causes Pain And Stiffness In The Muscles While On Avapro?

I have been taking meds for bp control for 10years. Began with Avapro and changed to telmisartan /hctz 80/25 daily 3-4 months ago. I now feel joint pain, muscle stiffness and aching . I am 59 male. I don t remember feeling this stiff and sore. Could this be a side affect of the med?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to 'Ask a Doctor' service.

I do understand your pain and discomfort and here is my advice. I have seen many cases with similar complaints. As per history, my advice is to:

1. Do a full blood count with differential

2. Do check your Sugar & TSH3

3. Do ESR & RFI

Hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me.

Wishing you all the best.

Thanks,
Dr Uday Nath Sahoo
