What Causes Pain And Stiffness In The Shoulders While On Methimazole?

I have hyperthyroidism and just started taking 2.5 mg of methimazole per day and my shoulders and neck have become so stiff and painful that I can hardly move. I exercise regularly and never have any joint or muscle problems. what is going on???? YYYY@YYYY

Thanks for using Ask A Doctor service.

If shoulder stiffness started only after intake of Methimazole, its side effect can be considered responsible.
But if pre existing or started after a long period of intake of Methimazole then other causes as ligament issue or else have to be explored.
