Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Knee pain My right knee has been hurting lately. Yesterday morning it felt like there was fluid sloshing around in my knee when I walked. As the day went on my knee felt like it was swelling. The fluid feeling turned into a feeling like there was a softball behind my knee cap. It is difficult to bend, & when bent there is tension. There is not much visible swelling, my right knee always looks swollen compared to my left. There was a slight redness on the left side of my right knee. This is not the first time my right knee has acted up. I'm a 25 year old female who weights approx. 210 lbs, & I'm approx. 5'6 in height. What could this be? ~ Amanda
As per your age and history there is possibility of soft tissue injury in knee. Most commonly meniscus injury occurs may be associated collateral ligament injury. If pain persists then you may need to do MRI knee to see for any functional defect.
As per your symptoms you need to do physiotherapy and knee exercises to improve range of motion. Rest and ice fomentation along with supportive brace will help to reduce swelling and pain.
Small meniscus tear can be managed conservatively with physiotherapy with USG and TENS. Meniscus injury can be managed by arthroscopic repair.
