What Causes Pain And Swelling In My Right Big Toe?

4 days ago I dropped a 30lb weight on my toe at the gym. I walked fine after, but later that night (a few hours later) my right big toe got swollen and I had some pain when walking. Now, I have no pain when walking and when standing on my toes. However, I have a small red line near the base of my toe which I feel some pain when pressed on and mild pain when I bend my toe at the line. Is my toe sprained or just bruised? and what can I do to help recovery? (I have been doing the R.I.C.E. method) http://tinypic.com/r/votwz9/8

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Regarding your concern, I would explain that it seems to be just a bruise, as you can walk normally. For this reason, I would recommend using locally Ibuprofen ointment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
