What Causes Pain Around Belly Button, Swelling Of Stomach And Weight Gain?

I am experiencing sharp pain above and around my belly button. I have also noticed that my stomach is swollen and a little distended and I have experienced some weight gain in the past week. Do you know what could be causing this and should I go to the emergency room.

HI
Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic

Your symptoms are suggestive of water accumulation in the abdomen . Usually it happens due to Liver problem but can also happen if the protein level in blood is less or if there is heart failure.

There is no need to go to ER as it is not an Emergency situation but do fix up an appointment with your physician and get evaluated . You shall be asked for an Ultrasound abdomen Pelvis scan to look into the amount of water collection and the status of liver . Along with that certain blood test also will be advised.

Kindly get evaluated .

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask .
