What Causes Pain Below Right Shoulder Blade?

Hello, I just signed up for the affordable care act. My information will be entered into the system on November 15th and my insurance will be activated on January 1st. Recently I ve been experiencing pain below my right shoulder blade which has lasted for about a week and a half. I am also a smoker and am concerned that this could be a sign of cancer. If I was to get an x-ray before January and cancer is found, would my insurance get taken away or would my insurance rat get raised? I don t make a lot of money (about $17,000 dollars a year at 40 hours a week) so I m worried about being able to afford treatment in a worse case scenario. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I have studied your case with diligence.

If after clinical examination and investigation if doctors suspect malignancy then you need further investigation.
I suspect cancer if you have most of associated symptoms like weight loss, anorexia, easy fatigability, persistent cough, persistent pain.
I will advise you to do MRI and Ultrasound of shoulder.

You may need further investigation like PET scan to rule out malignancy

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. One weeks of pain below the scapula can not be said to be due to cancer without other signs of and. It can be simple muscular pain. You can take analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief. For further investigation you can get your x ray and MRI of scapular region. You can discuss with your doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to help you.
