I m 51, have had a few episodes of pretty significant pain both before & after bowel movements. Had a colonoscopy last year, results of 5 pollops, 3 year return for next. Haven t had this type of pain in the past, but wondering what it could be a common symptom of or if it can be ordinary.
Pain during defecation may be due to colitis or fissure or fistulas or external hemorrhoids. Avoid spicy food and alcohol. Avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Please consult your gastroenterologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
