Hello I am a 51 yr old female. I had a colonoscopy today. When I went to urinate it hurt. This has never happened and I have never had a UTI so I am not sure whats going on, but more importantly what do u think caused it and how to relieve the pain... it seems to only hurt when I go.... like maybe something is in there... and it comes out hard in a gush like. Hello
Thanks for query .

Pain during urination (Dysuria) that you have after colonoscopy is called as refereed pain .

Colon and urethral sphincter which controls urine flow is innervated by the branches of the same nerve called Pudendal Nerve, Hence when ever there is irritation of the nerve as it happens after colonoscopy the pain is referred to other branch of pudendal nerve that innervates urethral sphincter causing it to go into spasm which causes dysuria (Painful Urination ) .

This is natural phenomenon and gets resolved after few days spontaneously without any treatment .
