What Causes Pain During Urination?

my 4 yr old daughter has been complaining that it hurts when she goes pee also when she is just sitting sometimes she will make a comment that her vagina hurts. I tried to look at it but she keeps saying that it hurts to touch. From what I could see it was slightly red in that area. What could be causing her discomfort.

Hello. I just read through your question. There are 2 common causes for these symptoms. First is irritation in the vaginal area. this is usually due to the 2 sides of the vagina rubbing together. Applying baby oil, or vaselline usually resolves the problem. The other possibility is a urinary tract infection. This diagnosis can only be evaluated with a urine sample. I recommend consulting with your doctor so a urine sample can be analyzed.
