What Causes Pain In Knee After An Injury?

hi, I fell onto concrete, landing on my knee nearly 2 weeks ago. The knee is still quite sore and painful to walk on. I can weight bear on it but it hurts when the weight comes off and when I bend or straighten it. Is this just likely to be bruising of the knee ?

Hi,
I understand your concern.
fall on knee can affect knee in several ways.
- Bruising over knee is skin injury, and wont be so painful.
- trauma to bones of knee joint- it causes long lasting pain on touch/ on movements -
- INJURY TO KNEE JOINT DUE TO FALL WILL HAVE ALL THE SYMPTOMS YOU HAVE, LIGAMENTS IN KNEE JOINT GET INJURED MAKING MOVEMENTS PAINFUL.
* To pin point the cause, consultation of an orthopedic doctor for clinical examination ,investigations like X ray, MRI,help in .This will be followed by specific treatment.
Usually treatment is calcium, vitamin D, anti inflammatory pain relieving drugs ( Ibuprofen), physiotherapy/ orthoscopy is essential in some conditions.
Thanks
