Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In Right Shoulder Blade With Flatulence?
I have had stabbing, sharp, sparodic, but constant (every couple of hours), pain under my right shoulder blade for three days with a lot of gas, burping, etc. What could be the cause. I have not changed my diet other than adding greek yogurt over the past few weeks. I had gastric bypass surgery a year and a half ago and have lost 100 pounds.
Right shoulder blade pain may be due to muscle spasm or rheumatism or fibromyalgia or nerve compression or infection etc.
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. May be abnormal sleeping position may present like this. Use local diclofenac gel, use cold and warm compression.
Use muscle relaxant with pain killer medication. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
