What Causes Pain In Shoulder And Wrists?

While digging a large pathway with a shovel I forcefully hit solid ground a few times. When i finished I noticed pain in my shoulder, elbow and wrist joints. Almost a week later my hand is now slightly swollen with numbness, painful soreness in my wrist especially when holding something at a angle and my elbow is sore as well but only upon full extension. Did I sprain something and should I be concerned as it is the Holidays and my doc is out of state.
