What Causes Pain In Solar Plexus In A 11 Year Old?

My 11yr son has been complaining about pain in his solar plexus for about a year now after food. He cough yesterday once and a big lot of bright red blood came up. Took him to doctor this morning and he said its a gastro problem. Should I seek a second opinion.
