What Causes Pain In Testicles And Scrotum?

My son is 10 and was in tears because his testicles and scrotum was hurting. He said it felt like a thousand wasps stinging him. It lasted a couple of minutes and quit, then he came back to me about 6 minutes later screaming that it was happening again. He is fine right now, any suggestions?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for your question. There are many explanations as to why your son is feeling this. Though most causes are of little or no concern, testicular pain is something that should be checked out immediately. The most important cause to rule out is testicular torsion. This could be a coming and going type of pain, like your son describes. If not caught in time, it can cause irreparable damage to the testicle. I recommend you consult with your doctor about this immediately.
