What Causes Pain In The Coccyx After A Bowel Movement?

My tailbone has bothered me for years...I was told that it has a slight curve at the end and would easily be bruised. However, the past few months it has been unusually sore (without injury to it) and seems to be inside instead of tender to the touch. For example, after sitting, when I get up the pressure from the inside seems to be hurting. I'm getting more shooting pains that seem to be accompanied by gas or shortly before a bowel movement. I'm also starting to have more abdominal cramping. I do not know if the two are related, but it seems perhaps it's a digestive issue?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Coccygeal pain is due to swelling over the tailbone from past injury or else.

The bowel movement related issue is from digestive system related, mostly constipation induced. A physical examination with a consultant surgeon is mandatory for diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
