General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain in the fingers & wrist can be due sprain, strain, fracture or compression of the median nerve(Carpal tunnel syndrome). Visit ER, get physically examined & get X-ray & nerve conduction tests done.

1. Avoid over-extending your wrist.
2. Take Acetaminophen(Tylenol) or Naproxen to reduce inflammation & pain.
3. Steroid shots are also effective(to be taken under a Consultant).
4. Usage of wrist splints is effective.
5. If median nerve is affected you may need surgery.
6. Get evaluated and treated for OA/RA.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
