What Causes Pain In The Heel Of A Foot?

I have pain in the right side of my right foot around the heel area, it hurts when putting weight on it. I ride horses daily and when i push my heel down in my stirrup it feels like a stabbing pain around this area like something is being stretched around the right part of my heel- could i have sprained this area?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be bone pain or muscle sprain.

Please let me know whether she had a history of injury, sprain, heavy weight lifting.

For that, you can take tab. motrin. apply diclofenac gel or spray with heating pads.

In case of not getting relief, I would suggest you to MRI foot after orthopedic consultation.

Do regular physical therapy. avoid barefoot walking.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
