What Causes Pain In The Lower Rib Cage?

hi Doc !! i m a female, 28 years, unmarried, having a history of bilateral pulmonary effusion with mild liver and spleen enlargement and this was around 5 years ago...from past 2 months i m suffering from fever which comes on and off again and again along with some cold and cough. Also seem to have some pain in left side a little lower to the where the ribs end..could you please suggest what could be the reason for this
