Hello,

People with diabetes are more susceptible to developing infections, as high blood sugar levels can weaken the patient's immune system defenses. So, people with diabetes are at a higher risk for gum problems because of poor blood sugar control. At the other side, as with all infections, serious gum disease may cause blood sugar to rise.

In my opinion you may have a periodontal disease .This is the most common dental disease affecting those living with diabetes and your pain can be a sign of mouth problems caused by diabetes. My advice for you is to consult your dentist as soon as possible and keep your blood glucose numbers as close to your target as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Elona Xhardo
