What Causes Pain In The Shoulder Blade That Radiates To The Neck?
I get a very sharp pain that starts at my shoulder blade, and shoots up my neck. At the same time my eye, on the same side as the pain, goes temporarily blind. I see white, and then my vision is blurry for a few seconds. It happens every 3 to 4 weeks, for about the last 3 years. What am I experiencing?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You may have an entrapped nerve in the neck or between the shoulder blades causing what is referred to as a cervical or scapular compressive radiculopathy. The blurry vision may be due to the intensity of pain sometimes believed to be so strong that people can actually pass out.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
