What Causes Pain In The Swollen Lower Leg And Ankle?

Pain began about 2 weeks ago on the inside off my right knee at night when I had just gone to sleep. ibuprofen and icing relieved the pain and I could sleep. Tonight I have pain in my swollen right lower leg and ankle. An area 6 above the ankle has many bright red blotches on the inside of my leg. I have had varicose veins for decades. I have worn support stockings for 22 years. July 11 I had a repeat cardiac ablation. I am on eliquis, diltiazem and recently went off sotalol. Since going off sotalol 2 weeks ago I have felt great and been very active doing hours of yard work, taking class in tai chi and chi gong. Should I go in to see my internist?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Consult an orthopedician and get an MRI scan to look for any possible contusion or fracture.

As of now, you can take analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like Aceclofenac/Serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
