What Causes Pain In Urethra After Passing Urine While Having UTI?

Following a long term UTI I now have a strange feeling in my urethra after passing urine. It is a bit like a contraction or a throb. Somethimes it can almost be an actual low grade pain. It seems to pass after a while and particularly if I drink water. It often comes back the next time I pass urine ( but not every time). I am post menopausal ( 2 years) and use oestrogen cream internally.



Is there anything I can do to stop this strange, annoying and unsettling symptom.

* In presence of UTI , cause of urethral pain - irritation of urethral mucosa
by urine - altered pH of urine - presence of bacteria / epithelial cells /
crystals or casts in urine - urethral stricture / narrowing is also a
possibility
* Needs definite evaluations , diagnostic tools & management plan
accordingly
* Salient tips to get some benifits
- drink plenty of liquids about 4-5 litres / day
- keep genitals clean , dry
- Cranberry sachets once daily for 10 days
- in our clinic we recommend Uroflowmetry +/- Diagnostic Cystoscopy ,
Urine cultures & Laboratory work up.
