Hello. I have a constant pain on my left upper body. It s under my breast, near my rib. It s been there for over a year. I have asked my doctor what it could be. He said he doesn t know. It gets very painful. Even hurts when I breathe sometime. Do you have any idea what it could be?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to costochondritis. Pain while palpation will be positive for this. For such case if you were my patient then i would recommend using anti inflammatory gels like ketoprofen for local application. If pain is more then oral ketoprofen will be helpful. If there is no improvement then local corticosteroid or anaesthetic injection will be helpful. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
