What Causes Painful Bump Towards Back Of Mouth?

I discovered a bump toward the back of my mouth, and it hurts to swallow. I had a sore throat for a couple of days, but now I can't tell if it's still sore because this pain has taken over. Could it be a canker? Any suggestions on how to get rid of it? I am 27 years old, 5'1", 120 lbs and pregnant. Any advice?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a painful bump at the back of the mouth along with a recent history of sore throat can be due to causes like Pyogenic Granuloma, Abscess, apthous ulcer or canker sore etc..

Nothing to worry as it will resolve soon..

You can start gargling with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
You can gargle with betadine solution by putting few drops of betadine solution in water..
You can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
You can take a soft diet and avoid spicy food to prevent its irritation..
Drink plenty of water..

In case if it still does not improve in a week consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and you can be advised a course of oral antibiotics along with other remedies as advised..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
