What Causes Palpitations After Taking Synthroid?

doctor prescribed synthroid 75 mcg for my hypothryroidism. I am feeling some palpitations, irritability, nervousness, tiredness. I read that this was a sign that the dosage is too much. I don t want to go back to that doctor and am in search of another endocrinologist. My primary told me to cut the pill in half meanwhile, but I was just thinking to stop drinking it for a few days until I see the new doctor. I did have my primary run some blood tests. t3 free is 4.5 thyroglobin antibodies thyroid peroxidase antibodies t4 free 1.8 tsh 3rd generation 0.03 Please advise if I should stop drinking the pill

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that the dose is too high for you and causing higher than normal levels of thyroid hormone.
Your primary doctor can check your levels for you. He or she can have this blood test done.

It would be best not to alter the medication till you determine the thyroid hormone levels.
Your new endocrinologist would want a true reflection of your thyroid status.

I hope this helps
