What Causes Passing Of Black Stool, muscle Cramps And Severe Back Pain?
Hi,For about a month now I have been extremely fatigue, in pain, having severe back pain and muscle cramping, and this might sound gross, but my stool lately has been dark color (Almost black) and it smells like formalin (formaldehyde)...any idea what may be the cause?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of extreme fatigue, pain in abdomen, severe back pain, muscle cramping for almost a month and now recently developed black stools which smell like formalin. I can think of the following causes: There may be entero-colitis of whatsoever cause. The black stool indicates that there is bleeding somewhere in the intestinal tract. I would advise you the following: Tests of the stool for 3 consecutive days Tests of blood and urine. Upper GI Endoscopy Colonoscopy and biopsy. These investigations may be sufficient to find the reasons of your trouble Further tests of ultrasonography and CT scan can help further if needed. Consult a Surgical Gastroenterologist.
