Last night, I stood up after having been dozing off on the couch watching a movie, went to the bathroom to urinate, and passed out immediately after. I had some to drink, but it had been spaced out and I was definitely not drunk. I have heard of older men passing out after urinating, but I am 22 and in relatively good condition. Any thoughts?
You need to meet a physician and get your blood pressure evaluated in standing and lying down position to look for orthostatic hypotension.
The reason for passing out is autonomic system dysregulation wherein a person lying down for longtime when stands up suddenly the blood flows to the limbs and if the nervous system is not active all the blood flows below and the person passes out.
It is common in elderly, alcoholic and diabetic patients. If it is happening to you at this age with any reasons then you need to get evaluated by ultrasound abdomen and pelvis and few hormonal testing that the physician will advice based on the blood pressure or clinical examinations.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
