What Causes Persistent Abdominal Pain?

My wife is 75 years old and has abdominal pain since I have known her, about 8 yrs, and it seems to be progressively getting worse. All the doctors that she has seen keep saying it s IBS but I m feeling that something is missing here and it could be something more serious.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to irritable bowel syndrome. To exclude other possible causes you can do an ultrasound, a stool test and a complete blood count.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
