What Causes Persistent Bloating Of Abdomen With Cramping?

Hello. I ve been bloated for almost a month. I have gas and occasional cramping with no weight gain according the scale. A few things have changed recently in my diet. I m obese, 225 lbs. with a height of 5 4 and started incorporating way more fruits and vegetables into my diet, weaning myself from processed foods, cutting my portions of grain to the serving size, and eating more legumes and seeds, not too many nuts. I also eat 3-5 small portions through the day instead of the one large one that I used to eat. I also plan to start Beachbody Insanity for some cardio. I had my first alcoholic beverage(s) last month on my 21st birthday and then another a few days later but then never again because I also had my first hangover last month which was enough to make me avoid alcohol forever. I had quite a bit of alcohol for a female (maybe about 4 cups on the first day of a 21% alcohol and one half cup of a 40% whiskey on the other.). I ve been suspecting that I have a problem with hypothyroidism and am scheduling a visit to the endocrinologist. I would love your opinion first please.

Hello
I share your concern
Bloating or excess gas in stomach might be related to Aerophagia (excessive swallowing of air) may be due to smoking, excess use of carbonated drinks, acid peptic disease or indigestion.

Since you are overweight at very young age, so I would advise you to go for Baseline investigation like hemoglobin, CBC, liver function test, blood sugar and thyroid test as well to rule out possibility of hypothyroidism.

You can very easily shed off extra weight by dietary restrictions and regular physical exercise
You need to have strong determination and motivation for it.
you need to be consistent with your efforts

Meanwhile you can take antiacidity medicines for bloating and abdominal upset.

Hope this answers your question, please do let me know if you have any more queries, I will happily answer you.
Best wishes
