What Causes Persistent Cough Along With Burping?

I started feeling bad last night and coughing. This morning I had burping chills soreness severe cough and can t even attempt to drink water cause it comes up. I went to work for Afew hours but left because I feel awful. I never get sick. Still coughing and baby burps. What is this?

Hi,

It sounds as though you may have a viral illness, this is the most common reason for the symptoms that you are describing. It may be the common cold virus or flu (symptoms a lot worse with the flu).

You would need to rest and use fluids. The fluid would help to rehydrate you and also help to break up the thickness of the sputum if the cough becomes wet.

Paracetamol or ibuprofen would help with any discomfort or fever and a cough suppressant like Robitussin would help with the cough.
