What Causes Persistent Cough And Indigestion?

I have been having constant mucus drainage and difficulty swallowing at time. Also, the back of my tongue feels irritated and I have a persisent cough. I have terrible allergies as well as constant heartburn/indigestion. Could this just be symptoms of nasal congestion or should I seel medical attention. This has been ongoing for about a month now.

Hi Dear,

As per your query, you have symptoms of persistent cough and indigestion which is impairing your immunity and this is mainly because of lower respiratory tract infection. It could be due to gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Visit pulmonologist once and get it examined. These symptoms normally take 3 days to go. If the cough is exaggerating go for chest X-ray, blood and sputum test. If it is bacterial infection start with a proper course of antibiotics. Till then give crocin 4 hourly. Apply mist humidifiers in the room. Take proper rest without any discomfort. Take water after every few mins. Do Not lay down immediately after having food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
