What Causes Persistent Feeling Of Having Drainage At The Back Of The Throat?

I have had a chronic condition where I can never seem to clear my throat. It s like there is always drainage at the base of my neck and t s like i have a dusty throat. If I try hard to clear my throat, there is often mucous produced, but it never seems to come up past the base of my throat, so it never feels like I ve cleared it.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you have symptoms of persistent feeling of having drainage at the back of the throat which seems to be due to inflammation of the throat i.e you having chronic pharyngitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order throat swab test along with blood tests and CT scan for sinusitis , Doctor may prescribe anti bacterial like amoxicillin along with decongestants. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. For now take steam thrice a day and do betadine gargles. Take proper rest and avoid spicy food .
