What Causes Persistent Loose Motions?

I HAVE HAD LOOSE BOWELS FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS. COLONOSCOPY, ENDOSCOPY, LIVER TESTS, CAT SCANS OF ABDOMEN, ETC. HAVE SHOWN NOTHING WRONG. I ALSO HAVE A HIATAL HERNIA. MY SEDIMENTATION RATE HAS INCREASED AND I AM SLIGHTLY ANEMIC. I HAD BREAST CANCER 14 YEARS AGO; CAUGHT EARLY. MY ONCOLOGIST AND PRIMARY PHYSICIANS HAVE ORDERED ADDITIONAL BLOODWORK AND TOLD ME TO GO BACK TO MY GI GUY. I WILL DO THIS, BUT i AM WORRIED ABOUT WHAT THE POSSIBILITIES ARE. I AM 82 YEARS OLD. SHOULD I BE WORRYING?

Gastroenterologist 's  Response
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM). Since endoscopy, colonoscopy and CT scan are normal, it appears that it may be functional diarrhoea. Take a course of probiotic, an antisecretory agent like loperamide. Avoid dairy products.
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
