What Causes Persistent Vomiting And Severe Weight Loss?
my question is my daughters dad is in hospital now because for the past 1month -1/2 mon the has not been able to hold any food down they did endoscopy and found old food in his stomach what could be the cause he has lost 40 pounds down from 184 to 140 now
Persistent vomiting is commonly due to liver disorder, ulcer, esophagitis, gastritis, bulimia, food poisoning, IBS(celiac/Crohn's disease), emotional factors like depression, anxiety, migraine headache. These pathological factors affect the dietary habits & may cause severe weight loss.
He should go for a thorough medical check-up & get evaluated for the cause & treated accordingly. Give him home made boiled food, soups & boiled veggies. Keep him well hydrated. Help him stay away from addictions if any.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
