What Causes Pockets In Throat After Undergoing Tonsillectomy?

About 4 days after my tonsillectomy/septoplasty, the stitches that were holding the pocket where the tonsils were popped loose and now I have 2 big pockets in the back of my throat. Is this normal and how do I keep food out because whenever it gets in there it s hard to get back out and it burns like I ve never felt before.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The pockets in the throat are normal after tonsillectomy.

I suggest to:
Stay hydrated.
Get plenty of rest.
Eat foods that are easy to swallow.
Steer clear of any irritants that may aggravate your throat.
Gargle with salty water.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
