Hello Doctor , I have been felling this poking pain, I think on the 7th or 8th rib on the right side anterior to my abdomen. I went to see the doctor, had an x-ray and blood test, he looked at them and said everything seemed fine, then they gave me analgesia. i still feel the pain but not as bad as it was the first day. please what is wrong there, why do I feel pain there?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely costochondritis. Pain while palpation is usually positive for this. For such cases i advice anti inflammatory gels like diclofenac or nimusulide for local application. If there is no improvement then I advise oral tablets of same. If further no improvement then I suggest local injection of corticosteroids or anesthetic. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
