What Causes Popping Noise And Sharp Intense Pain In My Left Arm?

I am 64 female always in great health. A couple of wks ago felt like I slept the wrong way on my left arm. Since then sometimes it makes popping noises and occasionally I will feel either slight to sharp intense pain for a split second. I can't move my arm much behind my back when wanting to get soap on my back on the side in the shower. I have a high tolerance for pain and don't focus on it except when it aggravates me. I'm thinking it's just my body getting older or arthritis or something

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
pain occurring on sudden movement can be rotattor cuff tear. These muscles help in shoulder movement, and after tearing them, you have difficulty in movement and also pain during night time, My first advice for you will be to get an ultrasound of your shoulder. This is better than MRI and cheap also. You can show to an orthopeadic surgeon .Rotattor cuff if torn will require surgery. you can post your report on this forum.
take care
