What Causes Post Menopausal Endometrial Thickness?

my mother is post menopausal from 6years,is a diabetic and a hypertensive too( she takes medication for it).she has a endometrial thickness of 11.3mm and cervical focal hyperechoic part of the right lip of the cervix.doctors say she needs a D&C soon.what can be the cause?

Post menopausal endometrial thickness of 11 mm is taken as a dividing line for assessing the risk of having uterine cancer. Women having post menopausal endometrial thickness > 11 mm have a chance of 6.7 % of having endometrial cancer, where as women having thickness
