What Causes Presence Of Blood In Stools?

I have a bulged disk between L5 and S1, I tried ear accupuncture and it worked wonders, I have had a flair up and it is worse than it has ever been, im on day 2 of the flair up and I now have quite a bit of blood in my stool, could that be related to the bulged disk and it being more painful this time or could it just be 2 different issues?
