What Causes Presence Of Fluid At The Hernia Surgical Site?

Hi! i have had a hernia repair, which didn t work, when they went in again to repair they found three hernias, the operation was very difficult...that was eight weeks ago, I still have pain..today I had a catscan which found I had a mass o f fluid in there what is this?

Hi, thank you for asking healthcare magic
With this presentation, it is possible that the fluid might be blood collection (hematoma) or pus. If it is pus, then it may be associated with high temperature. The doctor would need to drain the collected fluid, inspect it and may be send a sample to the laboratory for analysis (staining, culture and antibiogram) if an infection is suspected. Also, regular dressing may be necessary. I would advise you go to your surgeon for appropriate follow up.
