What Causes Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding With Sudden Weight Gain?

Hi, I have always had irregular menstrual cycles. I didn t even start getting one till I was 17. So I m 20 now and I had been getting heavy periods about once every 2-5 months. I ve never been to an OB/GYN because it s never really disrupted my life until now. For some reason I have been bleeding for 3 months now. It s not ultra heavy, but it is continuous. I assume there s definitely something wrong. What could it be? Other symptoms I have: -night time nausea -irregular periods -occasional intense stomach pain -sudden weight gain

Hi,

Your irregular periods and heavy bleeding during periods may be because of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). So visit your doctor.

They will do some blood test and an ultrasound scan to confirm PCOS. And get one thyroid profile test also done.
