What Causes Pulling Or Tearing In Stomach While Passing Bowel Movement?

My husband is 39 years old & was having a bowel movement today when he thought he felt a pulling or tearing on his mid to lower right side of his stomach. He s has gastric bypass back in 2004 & had an incisional hernia repair from that about 1 yr ago. He s still has some pain. What should he do?

Noted the history And understood your concerns.
Noted that your husband had undergone gastric bypass surgery, incisional hernia repair and felt something tearing.
This is most probably die to tear in The abdominal wall at a place where hernia repair was done.
I would advise you the following:
Since he has pain, get a clinical examination and high resolution ultrasound of abdominal wall to see for recurrence of hernia.
Anyways, also get treated for loose stools and any other condition as needed.
If recurrence is present do not get operated until matured for 6 weeks
