Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
welcome to HCM,
Purplish ring is not heard off unless you referring to bluish discolouration around the lips which is suggestive of cyanosis that is a sign of decreased oxygen content in blood. This can happen in case of some congenital heart defect in the child. Its only a possibility, so dont be alarmed. It would have been better or more informative if I could see a picture of it. Anyway, if I were you, I would consult my pediatrician as these things are best seen and judged. Hope I answered your query. Hope your child gets well soon. Take care.
