What Causes Pus Cells In Urine Even After Antibiotic Therapy?

hi, I am a 23 year old female and I had my urine tested for white blood cells about 3 weeks ago and the doctor found pus cells in my urine, indicating an infection. I started taking two different types of antibiotics for about 14 days. I had never experienced any of the classical symptoms of UTI. I had my urine tested again to see if the antibiotics were effective and discovered that the pus cells had reduced in number. I was once again prescribed a course of antibiotic for 14 more days. I went again for the third time to get my urine tested and found out that the levels of the pus cells are still the same as last time. The medication did not reduce the pus count from the last time I got checked out. Is this normal? Or do I still have an infection? I do not experience any symptoms.

Urologist 's  Response
Hello,

As a urologist, I can understand your anxiety. You should get an urine culture done to correctly diagnose UTI. It will also show, which antibiotic is most sensitive if UTI is significant. Drink about 10 to 12 glasses of fluids daily.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matthew J. Mangat
