General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Pain in the left upper abdomen can be due to gastritis as it is enhanced by food and referring to the left side of the body. But since there are other symptoms like nausea for two and half weeks, have problems after coughing. There can be associated problems like costochondritis and so on. It can be diagnosed by the following:
-Clinical examination by a doctor, preferably a general surgeon helps to get a clinical diagnosis assisted by the following:
-Upper GI endoscopy.
-X-ray of the chest.
-Colonoscopy.
-CT scan of the abdomen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
