What Causes Rapid Weight Lose And Enlarged Spleen And What Is The Medication For It?
I am a 27 year old female I was weighing 210 lbs but I've dropped down to 193 in 3 weeks, my doctor diagnosed me with a severly enlarged spleen. It is causing me alot of pain and is visably swollen out. They ran a blood test and said my results were "within normal range." I cant get any answers out of them as to what might be causing this or what some treatment options are. I'm really scared and could use some answers, or at least some ideas
The underlying cause of splenomegaly if the size of spleen big enough to compress the surrounding organs, then it need to be removed no medicine could reduce the size of it.
Chronic parasitic infection is the common cause and second is Banti's spleen, this is what explained for huge spleen, but for the marginal spleen enlargement, underlying cause need to be taken into consideration.
Chronic infection and cardiovascular disease are the common causes; you can discuss this with the physician for better judgement or diagnosis and management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
