What Causes Rashes On The Inner Thighs While On Hiprex For UTI?

I was put on Methenamine Hippurate 1gm. d/t recurring urinary tract infections d/t INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS. I broke out in a rash on the inside of my rt. thigh a small place on my back and another spot on the top of my left thigh. I am 68 yrears old The rash was worse when I scratched and it would get very big bumps. The dermatologist gave me a .05 Steroid cream and it has gone away, but I haven t take the Med I spoke of since the rash. Do you think it was caused by the medication??

Hello,

The rashes on the inner thigh are not related to Hiprex. The rash can happen due to a mild allergy or infection in the area. It is better to apply the steroid cream as and when needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rakhi Tayal, OBGYN
