What Causes Raspy Breathing?
My 13 month old son was just awake with quite raspy breathing, and some discomfort, but no croup like bark or sharp inhaling noise at this point. I didn t take his temp., but he felt only slightly warm, I just laid him back down and he fell back to sleep. At what point should I worry about taking him to the doctor. I worry about early stages of croup.

Hi... I understand your concern.
1. Both sides of the chest intercostal and subcostal retractions.
2. In drawing of the skin in the lower part of the neck on the front.
3. Agitated child.
4. Bluish discoloration of the lips and fingertips.
5. High grade fever above 101 degrees Fahrenheit.
6. Head bobbing.
7. Excessive drowsiness.
If these are there you need to rush the kids to the nearest Emergency Room immediately.
