What Causes Rectal Pain While Suffering From Colitis?
I continue to suffer from Ulcerative Colitis for over 15 years now, which has been treated with Prednisone, Imuran and Apriso on an ongoing basis. Question: Recently, I am experiencing severe pain in Rectum which is frequent. Is this pain due to complications from Colitis? What kind of pain medication can be used to relieve this pain?

Unfortunately this sounds typical of pain patterns with uulcerative colitis or any colitis for that matter. There is no specific pain medication that targets the rectum, but generalized anti inflammatories (such as motrin, ibuprofen, advil, Tylenol etc) will help inflammation and swelling pains. Anusol is a medication that can be given rectally to give some relief directly in the rectum which may help your pains.
