What Causes Recurring Abdominal Pain And Coughing Up Blood?

My 17 yr old daughter has been experiencing abdominal pain on and over for the past few years. We had been told she is gluten intolerant and had problems with reflux. She is very diligent about not eating wheat products and will take tums when needed. She has just informed me that a few days ago she was coughing blood and has had stomach pain this week.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have recurring abdominal pain and coughing up blood . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like gastroenteritis , food allergies , lactose intolerance , irritable bowel syndrome , appendicitis or crohn’s disease. Blood in cough can also occur due to conditions like chest infection and food pipe ulcers .I Consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order stool test along with ultrasound and take history . Doctor may prescribe omeprazole , ornidazole , sucralfate and anti inflammatory . Doctor may also recommend surgery in case of appendicitis. I would suggest you to avoid taking dairy product , food like broccoli , take antacid after every meal or eat light and non spicy . Doctor may also refer you to chest specialist for chest infection .
